Re: Where is Auchenvale
The Terrace of 5 is listed as Newark Place in some Maps, and I think it corresponds with a row of Tenements which still exists but with no road access only a lane/pathway which means the Google Camera Van never got access, so not sure if still occupied as most Tenements in that area seem to be in th...

Re: Where is Auchenvale
I am enclosing another enlarged Map of Port Glasgow Goods for 1911, which hopefully will be much clearer than previously. Fingers crossed. The Fyfe House in the earlier coloured Map is the same one I came up with during my research, although not named in later Maps surely, must be the same one. Auch...

Re: Where is Auchenvale
Thank you for your Help and thoughts on the whereabouts of Auchenvale. I agree it must be East of Port Glasgow, this is where the Glasgow Road passed under the Railway Bridge near Newark Castle on the River Clyde and skirted Port Glasgow Goods Station/Yard, passing the Gasworks and onto Carnegie Par...

Where is Auchenvale
I have come across an entry in the Scottish Valuation Roll in Renfrewshire for Auchenvale, it lists Signalmen, Platelayers, Goods Agent for 1895, 1905 and 1915 and had a Guard and Goods Manager back in 1885. They are all staying in Caledonian Railway Property/Houses. I cannot find Auchenvale using G...

Re: A station to identify
A recent addition to the "Caledonian Railway Staff List", lists a Thomas Steele, identified in the photograph, as being a Clerk at Law Junction Station in the LMS Period, from 02/06/1924 until he was transferred to Coalburn on 02/11/1925.

This is a Photo of CR No. 431, 2-4-0, as rebuilt by Drummond, before it's sad demise as depicted in the original photograph, after the collision at Coupar Angus, when the Driver George Pyper made a mistake and unfortunately lost his life.

Accident at Coupar Angus 20/10/1899 A very Brief extract from the Official Accident Report:- The 7.55 Express Perth to Aberdeen collided with the Special Cattle & Goods Train at Coupar Angus. It struck CR No. 431 2-4-0 on the right hand side and entirely destroyed it, it's Boiler being ripped open. ...

Caledonian Railway Staff List
I have Updated the Caledonian Railway Staff List, which is due to be published or made available on the CRA Forum very soon, we now have 17,350 entries for all Grades of Railway employees. Not a complete list, as the original CR Co. Records were damaged many years ago by careless storage, water dama...

Re: TLM and 7mm
The "Patterns" for 7mm are probably beyond my expertise, but for a person with no knowledge of this technique, how do you make a Pattern? Maybe others are asking themselves the same question, but if not, I would like to know what is required and the process in Pattern Making. From a 7mm Modeller Dav...

Regarding the Condensing Polished Copper Pipes - I used to have my doubts if they would be so Highly Polished whilst working through the Tunnels in Glasgow, from Parkhead to Botanic Gardens or Partick West is quite a distance! But on Holiday in Chester, England I had to use the toilet in a Very Old ...

Re: 29 Class
I have tried a few enlargements of Class 29, 0-6-0T Condensing, and what appears to be vague lining of Boiler Band next to the smoke box.
I leave it up to yourself to judge, but I too always assumed the Class 29 were lined on the Boilers.

I will put my name down for 2 sets of Cattle Dock.
It only needs a few others to come forward and a small article in The True Line of our intentions, and we could pull it off!

CR Cattle Dock/Pens
This is a Link for Tony Brenchley to Caledonian Railway Cattle Dock/Pens, is it possible to produce a 4mm Kit for this, based on a previous Forum Article, photographs in 2mm scale, and possible Drawing from Jim Watt. Could be a worthwhile project worthy of consideration? https://www.crassoc.org.uk/f...

CR Cattle Dock/Pens.
A follow up to a previous article on Cattle Docks. Could we consider a Project in producing a Caledonian Railway Cattle Pen based on James Watt Model in 2mmscale. Surely most Modellers could find a place on their layout for a Cattle Dock for their CR Cattle Vans. Just a suggestion for consideration....

Re: Cattle docks
Have we ever given any consideration to producing the Caledonian Railway Cattle Dock in 4mm scale? It was mentioned some time ago after Jim Watt produced a Model in 2mm scale. I was researching on the Forum under Cattle Pens, and discovered this article which is of great value to my plans to constru...

It looks like Carnwath Station, to the left of the Porter is the Station name but very blurred, it is a rare photograph in Caley days, is it possible to obtain a copy for the CRA Photo Archive, please.
Here is one for comparison taken in the 1930,s.

Re: Wagon Colours
These are two photographs of a GNSR 10Ton Ballast Wagon taken at SRPS B'oness Museum last year. It has recently been refurbished, hence the "shiny" paint job and the interior of the Wagon has had a new floor lain but the original Drop-side doors look original - unpainted - rough wood with cracks - s...
