Re: Diagram 121 Ore hopper

A couple more pictures of the almost complete hopper.

As I say not a scale model but hopefully a good usable layout wagon just a bit different from the usual wood plank mineral wagons.

Diagram 121 Ore hopper

I thought I'd show you this as some of you might be interested its a loose scale conversion of a Mainline 20 ton Hopper to the Caledonian diagram 121 10 ton Hopper. The only photo and dimensions I have are from the excellent Caledonian Wagon book hence the reason I've kept it fairly loose scale but ...

Re: 123

I've always believed so Jim, the easiest way to recognise the tender is when built the chassis cut out had a "half moon" shaped curved top where as the standard tenders just had an oval slot between each axle box. The other give away I believe is The rear tender steps are more substantial ...

Re: To line or not to line

I think this is a good case to use selective lining doing it where it can be seen or will make a visual difference but leaving off where it could end up looking over scale and awkward in other words a balanced approach.

Re: 4 and 6 wheel coaches

Having been talking in general to some people on the Hornby generic carriage thread on RMweb it seem there are no plans at the moment to release a range of there carriages in Caledonian livery but I've Emailed Hornby and am awaiting a response to what there intentions are regarding a Caley livery. A...

Re: 4 and 6 wheel coaches

It does look as if some of the Hornby ones might be better suited to run as Caledonian stock some if looked at with a squint at q fast moving train would actually look quite good but with a little light tinkering some could be brought even closer to Caley specks like the 4 and 6 wheel brake third, I...

Re: Jumbos on Ebay

Sorry you've lost me how is it masquerading as an 812 class, surely some Jumbos were painted blue as well. This one either Jumbo or 812 shouldn't be blue but black as it's not fitted with an air pump but no where can I see it being claimed as an 812 its only referred to as a Jumbo?

Re: Early coach axleboxes/springs

As Tony says they have the potential to be very usefull, if you are considering an etch of early carriages parts I would be very interested most likely in several sets as I'm on an early coach building program drawing and building bodies with the Silhouette cutter.

Bu--er it i wondered why when I built it my 0-4-0 Pug turned out the same length as an LMS Princess (or was that just the wheel base of the Hornby version) ;)

Don't take any chances Tony keep your self safe indoors.

As I said if you can put me a couple of open wagons aside but leave it all untill this is all over.
I've got plenty to be getting on with at home right now there's more important things to worry about.

Re: Oxford Rail Cowans-Sheldon 15t Crane.

I wondered the same thing David but thought it might be more viable to cut and remove the lowest section instead but which ever end you cut I sill worry you will be hampered by the general decreasing taper of the jib. I think all we can really do is speculate untill we actually have an example in fr...

Re: Oxford Rail Cowans-Sheldon 15t Crane.

Hmm hard one this can I live with the extra cut out in the Jib? I guess if push came to shove then I could but to be honest I doubt very few people would know or notice if you wanted to leave as is. Once one is sat before me I'll be able to have a good look to see if anything can be done maybe build...

Re: Livery query, C.R. 310A.

The fact it was scrapped in 1895 I very much doubt this or any of her type ever received the "light" blue livery. I would suggest its most likely a light effect making it look different at first glance as its not just a difference between the loco and tender there's some big shade veriatio...

Re: St. Fillans station track plan

Thanks Jim good to know but I was hoping for the track and signal plane for this station only.
Getting the book as fine as I'm sure it is and if funds allowed I would is a very expensive way of getting the basic information I would like on St Fillan station alone.

I'm doing a bit of research and was wondering if anyone had a track plan or signal plan for St Fillans station on the Callander and Oban line.
