Re: Dunalastair 111 bash??
Hopefully there are a couple of images associated with this - I don't know what I'm doing BUT I tried converting the T9 to a 13 class a few years ago. Not too disappointed with the result for me although it wouldn't pass more than a cursory inspection by someone who knows what they are talking abou...

Re: Pug Tender
That's useful, Jim. While I'm on here, can anybody explain the two compartments ie the higher and the lower. Photos I've seen seem to suggest they had coal in both sections. So why were there two sections?

Re: Pug Tender
I was thinking about commissioning a resin body. The outside w irons from Wizard seem spot on so the underframe would be OK.

Re: Pug Tender
So I have purchased the Falcon Brassworks Drummond Pug tender etch. And I'm looking at it. At least half of it seems to be something else entirely. Has anyone built this? Any clues?

Did they move to a drafty corner in a complex beside the bus station? I still have a couple of transfer crests I bought from them sometime in the 1960s.(

Re: CR 812 Class from Rails
To be honest the price of a DJH jumbo with motor and wheels is close to £300 and then you've got to botch sorry build it yourself, paint it and line it. If there are other CR releases at the £200 mark I'll be first in the queue.

Re: To line or not to line
That's a remarkable job in 2mm Jim but to be honest looking at the picture which I think is a bout the same distance-wise as looking at a model on a layout I cannot see the yellow/brass lining.

To line or not to line
I have been grappling with this for some years now and I confess that I do not have the mathematics to fully explain it. But what I am asking is whether it is better to line coaches or not. I don't see specifications for the yellow lining in Mike Williams book but in Casserley's WCJS he states that ...

The price is eyewatering. How does it cost twice as much to paint a coach blue and grey rather than crimson and cream?

LNWR Carriages
There is a tantalising reference in David Jenkinson's "LNWR Carriages - a Concise History" to several types of LNWR coaches (not WCJS diagrams) being dual fitted to work over CR lines. Did LNWR coaches work over CR lines? Perhaps pressed into service on WCJS trains at times of pressure? Th...

Re: 4 and 6 wheel coaches
The newly announced Hornby 6 wheel coaches appear to be a closer match for the diagram 8 at first look. I cant see the dimensions and the LNWR 5 compartment third might be a useful donor although they are also producing a NBR which might be more satisfactory to repaint!
