Re: 439 body

That was helpful, thanks very much. The benefit of white metal is you can file and carve it!

Re: 439 body

The only picture I can find of this side of a 439 class is in the livery book page 189 of number 440 but it doesnt have that big steam pipe the model has

Re: Motherwell station: new customer lounge

Everything looks better with hindsight. My recollection of Motherwell Station waiting rooms in trainspotting days in the 50s were dark, brown, smoky, dirty, full of tobacco smoke and nicotine stained. And how long do you have to wait for a train at Motherwell?

Re: Dunalastair 111 bash??

Hopefully there are a couple of images associated with this - I don't know what I'm doing BUT I tried converting the T9 to a 13 class a few years ago. Not too disappointed with the result for me although it wouldn't pass more than a cursory inspection by someone who knows what they are talking abou...

Re: Pug Tender

That's useful, Jim. While I'm on here, can anybody explain the two compartments ie the higher and the lower. Photos I've seen seem to suggest they had coal in both sections. So why were there two sections?

Re: Pug Tender

I was thinking about commissioning a resin body. The outside w irons from Wizard seem spot on so the underframe would be OK.

Re: Pug Tender

So I have purchased the Falcon Brassworks Drummond Pug tender etch. And I'm looking at it. At least half of it seems to be something else entirely. Has anyone built this? Any clues?

Did they move to a drafty corner in a complex beside the bus station? I still have a couple of transfer crests I bought from them sometime in the 1960s.(

Re: CR 812 Class from Rails

To be honest the price of a DJH jumbo with motor and wheels is close to £300 and then you've got to botch sorry build it yourself, paint it and line it. If there are other CR releases at the £200 mark I'll be first in the queue.

Re: To line or not to line

That's a remarkable job in 2mm Jim but to be honest looking at the picture which I think is a bout the same distance-wise as looking at a model on a layout I cannot see the yellow/brass lining.

To line or not to line

I have been grappling with this for some years now and I confess that I do not have the mathematics to fully explain it. But what I am asking is whether it is better to line coaches or not. I don't see specifications for the yellow lining in Mike Williams book but in Casserley's WCJS he states that ...

The price is eyewatering. How does it cost twice as much to paint a coach blue and grey rather than crimson and cream?
