Re: Locomotive Route Indicators

Many thanks, Jim, for your offer of a few particular examples from your etch, and for posting photos of the original which complement the dimensions which Michael kindly provided. The only route indicator I need at present is the one for Wemyss Bay, and fortunately that is one of the simpler ones si...

Re: Locomotive Route Indicators

Hello Michael, Many thanks for your reply, which gives me all the information I was hoping for. I can recall frequently waiting on the platform at Queens Park or Mount Florida many years ago and checking the route indicator of the approaching train, to ensure it was for Kirkhill and not an outer cir...

Locomotive Route Indicators

Does anyone have information on the dimensions of the arms of these route indicators, which were still in use well into BR days? I can guesstimate from photos, but actual dimensions would be really helpful. Carina

Re: Sound decoder

David, you are right that release is imminent. I had an email from Steve at SWD this week with a draft datasheet for comment, and this is now being finalised. I think the tweaks you mentioned are not to the sound elements of the decoder, but to a couple of CVs controlling chuff sync. He confirmed th...

Re: Sound for CR locos

Steve, I'm not sure what clarification you're looking for. My earlier post (June 19) lists the various harness options, and the Loksound v5 manual illustrates the standard configurations. I agree this manual is a formidable document, especially as it's a translation from the original German. If you'...

Re: CR COUPLING RODS IN 4MM

I bought two sets at Perth on Saturday - a Jumbo and a 439 class, and the etch quality is excellent. A nice touch is that for the six-coupled set, a pair of rivets (and a spare!) is included.

Re: Sound for CR locos

David, On the SWD website www.southwestdigital.co.uk go to the Latest News page. From that you can download the LS v5 English Manual. This is a 112 page document but it has a comprehensive contents list so that you should be able to extract the information you need. I found it easier to save the doc...

Re: Sound for CR locos

Those who were at the AGM in March may recall a brief update on the development by South West Digital of a decoder with a soundfile recorded from CR No. 828. SWD plan to use the new v5 Micro Loksound decoder from ESU as the hardware platform. At that time SWD were expecting delivery from ESU in mid-...

Re: CR COUPLING RODS IN 4MM

I would like to have rods for a Jumbo, a 782, a 439 and a 944 class initially, all in 4mm scale. In the longer term (and If I live long enough!) one each of classes 30 and 55, but for these I’d settle for universal rods if that makes more sense commercially.

Re: Sound for CR locos

I have just had a timely update from Steve of South West Digital about this project. ESU, who produce the LokSound range of sound decoders which SWD use as the platform for their own soundfiles, have recently announced an upgraded sound decoder, the Loksound v5. This comes with many new features, bu...

Re: Argo Transacord "Caledonian Engines"

Progress on a true Caley loco DCC sound decoder I’m pleased to report that South West Digital is currently developing a soundfile of Caley engine sounds, using the recordings commissioned by Kris of CR 828 on the Strathspey Railway last year. He generously offered these recordings to the CRA for su...

Re: Argo Transacord "Caledonian Engines"

As a new member of the Association, I am slowly exploring the range of information available. In the CRA Forum section of the current issue of TTL, I came across a brief reference to the possible development of a CR locomotive sound chip - something I am currently investigating with South West Digit...
