John
That is potentially very good news. Have you had sufficient interest to progress?
I mentioned possible 7mm wagons in my AGM report.

Re: CR 812 Class from Rails
That is a very useful photo Dave. Clearly the cab is wider than the splashers but for what reason? Could this be defined by the boiler size and construction rather than any aesthetic considerations? I don't think there is anything related to the underfarme, wheels and motion that would require the c...

Re: CR 812 Class from Rails
I have just had a look at the CAD pictures posted in September. I am not sure how accurate these are as a portrayal of the model as it will eventually appear but one thing does worry me. The outside faces of the splashers and the cab side do not appear to line up. Is this evidence that the splashers...

Re: LNWR Carriages
Please see my article "Tales from the Berry Town" TTL 141 for a reference to dual fitted Caley engines being sent to Blairgowrie for working English stock on fruit specials. More than likely this was LNWR stock and there is also a photo of LNWR vans being loaded at Auchterarder.

CR Permanent Way
Its not often we have a post on this subject but now I can offer something from a man who should know. I am working on transcribing the articles in the September 1907 issue of the Railway Magazine which celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of the Caledonian Railway. These will be published in The True Lin...

Wagon Brakes
There have been several discussions on the Forum about wagon brakes, the McIntosh Patent Brake and why the latter did not persist. The answers is simply that it did not comply with the recommendations of a committee set up in 1906 by the Board of Trade to consider the question of wagon brakes. The c...

Re: Unidentified Loco
The Railway Magazine of 1900 included an article titled "The End of a Locomotive" that included pictures of the breakers yard at St Rollox. I have attached these. 1901 also had a photo of a Conner single being broken up. These may be related to the photo that Niall has posted. Tony B Stripping the l...

Re: TLM and 7mm
My turn to chip in again. By pattern or master I mean the item you wish to produce in quantity. For resin moulding the mould is cold poured silicon rubber. The pattern can therefore be made entirely of plastikard with strapping and bolt heads from the same material. All our 4mm patterns are made thi...

Re: TLM and 7mm
I am the person nominated by the CRA to coordinate TLM and it is time to get involved in this discussion. I have been asked many times over the years why we haven't extended the range to 7mm wagons. The answer is simple. Nobody has provided patterns for 7mm wagon bodies that can be used for resin ca...

Roofs for Carriages
This continues a discussion that started on the webinar on Saturday. Jim summers referred to my method of making removable plastikard roofs for the TLM D3 vans. This uses a 60 thou plastikard base that is a tight fit inside the body upon which is a longitudinal support for the roof. I have been usin...

Alba Models 4mm Etches
I have been talking to David Elvy of Alba Models about reintroducing the ex-Decent Models carriage kits in 4mm scale. As a first step he has recently received a large order of 4mm etches. He has no castings for these at present but is willing to sell the etches. He has: 4 wheel Drummond - Underframe...

TLM Orders
I have had a couple of orders for TLM recently when people paid by Paypal as recommended but did not specify that the payment was for TLM. Notice of the payment was sent to the wrong person and only latterly to me causing a delay in despatch of the orders. When paying by Paypal could I ask you to pu...

Re: CR Cattle Dock/Pens
Thanks Jim I think the level of interest would certainly justify us investing in a resin mould for the cattle pens. I guess 3D printing would be too expensive as a manufacturing method. The price for a resin mould and castings will depend on how big the pattern is. If it is about the size of the set...

Re: Building Ideas Requested
Hi A few years ago Bachmann produced a very nice cast resin model of a Caledonian Northern Division signal box. I think it was based on Kirriemuir Junction. It is very close in size and style to the box at Blairgowrie and mine has graced my Blairgowrie ever since. It is so good that I would not cons...

John Boyle Decent Models 4mm Carriage Etches
I have acquired a number of John Boyle's etches in 4mm scale passed to me by Roger Pidgeon who found them when clearing John's house. All these are bodies only, although there are roofs with some of the bogie stock, but no castings. My first task is to try to acquire some of the missing bits to make...

Re: CR Cattle Dock/Pens
Thanks for the prompt Jim I am not sure if an etch would work in 4mm scale to obtain the correct thickness for the wooden posts and planks. This looks to be ideal for a set of parts cast in resin. If we can sell 30 or more sets that should cover the cost of mould making. Most people will want at lea...

D46 Mineral Wagons
I am pleased to confirm I now have the latest of our rerun of TLM kits. This is for the Diagram 46 8-ton mineral wagon. Over 5,000 were built and they were the most numerous of the earlier mineral wagons. I have attached a photo of Jim Pairman's model made from the first batch. Full details of the p...

Re: Early coach axleboxes/springs
Thanks John. These look potentially useful. The axleboxes and axleguards mounted on the outside of the solebars of most early CR carriages were very similar to the LNWR pattern and , of course, the ex-WCJS carriages had them. I got some got some spare axlebox castings from D&S models a long time ago...
