Further options

Mike Williams has reminded me that he originally proposed to include removable raves for the pre-Drummond open to convert it to a sheep carrier.

He also proposed a earlier brake van c.1870s. Would you please also indicate your interest in the brake van.

Roof Door Van

Allan and everybody

We will probably follow the format already used by Bill Bedford on his LNWR van of a one piece body with a separate moulding for the roof incorporating all the relevant detail.

True Line Models up-date

There has been no progress with new kts from True Line Models as the last two suggestions, a pre-Drummond loco coal wagon and open goods wagon, did not attract sufficient support to proceed. In the meantime other projects have been considered and we now have a range of options. I think the pre-Drumm...

I suspect I am like many members - I don't use facebook, I don't perceive that have a need for it and consequently I don't know what it involves. I am aware of some of the problems experienced by users. The obvious question to ask is what would be the effect on the quality of the Forum? Would it add...

Thanks Kris

I am not sure which livery is correct (!) but I like the dark blue although I guess this was never carried.

Re: Diagram 59 16-ton Mineral Wagons

TLM D59 Brake Etches Those of you who follow the Forum TLM section and are sharp on maths will have worked out that I have a number of D59 8' 6" brake etches spare. These are useful for LMS period modellers who want to model their wagons with brakes on both sides and may be suitable for other ...

Pre- Drummond Wagon to K Werrett drawing. I built this wagon many years ago. The correct buffers with stepped bases were not available at the time and this is fitted with the standard turned brass buffers that I used then. The w-irons, springs and axleboxes were all from plastikard. How patient we w...

CR Station Foorbridfges

Somebody has asked me where the Caley cast iron footbridges were manufactured.

I guess these were to a standard design and probably some, if not all, were made at St Rollox works and assembled on site . Do we have a drawing?

Can anybody help?

Re: Next TLM Project

Mike - Thanks for the offer to make a pattern for the cask wagon,. I've had an email from David Elvy saying that he and Ross Burns are working on a cask wagon kit in 4mm and 7mm scales. So we won't progress that as a TLM project. The pre-Drummond goods wagon with optional sheep pens looks a good opt...

I forgot to mention in my last post that I have a few Drummond van kits left in stock. These are £11.70 each to CRA members plus p&p.

Diagram 59 16-ton Mineral Wagons

You may know that I ordered a second batch of these mineral wagons after the first batch sold out. Due to production limitations the second batch is of 25 units only. I have 14 of these left after completing existing orders. The kits are £14 each to members with etched brake gear and white metal cas...

Re: Next TLM Project

Unfortunately the level of interest in the loco coal wagon is not really sufficient to proceed with this as the next TLM project. This then poses the question of what else we could consider for our next kit. On previous occasions a number of people have suggested a cask or empty barrel wagon. There ...

Next TLM Project

Our next wagon will be a Loco Coal Wagon to a pre-Drummond design and therefore does not have a Diagram Book number. The wagon is based on the drawing on page 259 of Mike Williams' Wagon Book. This is for a 10-ton wagon with solid buffers and 9' 6" wheelbase. At least 300 of these wagons were b...

I think I did mention this in the instructions that you managed without!

I scraped the inside of the solebars gently with a sharp craft knife with the end of the blade broken off so it doesn't go through the floor. You won't have to remove much.

Caley Jumbo Kit

I spoke to Dave Smith at the AGM. The chap who is doing the Jumbo kit, whose name escapes me for the moment, has been ill but is continuing to work on the kit. I guess we should be patient.

Re: Ballquhidder Station Sign

John Your mention of the name boards at Killin Junction reminded me of the occasion when my wife and I fought through the undergrowth to get from the road to the station site. This was many, many years ago, more than 40 I would guess. We discovered the enamel name boards lying on the ground still in...

Lindsay You are probably correct about the w-irons. Ian Terrell did some trial etches for these a couple of years ago when he was working with Allan Ferguson on Allan's underframe for the mineral bogies. Ian already had the artwork and added it to our sheet of etches. I sent Ian the prototype inform...

Dave, Lindsay This is looking very good. I have no expertise to comment on the content other than so flog through a lot of photos. Wagon numbers are always going to be a problem.
