Diagram 59 16-ton Mineral Wagons

You may know that I ordered a second batch of these mineral wagons after the first batch sold out. Due to production limitations the second batch is of 25 units only. I have 14 of these left after completing existing orders. The kits are £14 each to members with etched brake gear and white metal cas...

Re: Next TLM Project

Unfortunately the level of interest in the loco coal wagon is not really sufficient to proceed with this as the next TLM project. This then poses the question of what else we could consider for our next kit. On previous occasions a number of people have suggested a cask or empty barrel wagon. There ...

Next TLM Project

Our next wagon will be a Loco Coal Wagon to a pre-Drummond design and therefore does not have a Diagram Book number. The wagon is based on the drawing on page 259 of Mike Williams' Wagon Book. This is for a 10-ton wagon with solid buffers and 9' 6" wheelbase. At least 300 of these wagons were built ...

I think I did mention this in the instructions that you managed without!

I scraped the inside of the solebars gently with a sharp craft knife with the end of the blade broken off so it doesn't go through the floor. You won't have to remove much.

Caley Jumbo Kit

I spoke to Dave Smith at the AGM. The chap who is doing the Jumbo kit, whose name escapes me for the moment, has been ill but is continuing to work on the kit. I guess we should be patient.

Re: Ballquhidder Station Sign

John Your mention of the name boards at Killin Junction reminded me of the occasion when my wife and I fought through the undergrowth to get from the road to the station site. This was many, many years ago, more than 40 I would guess. We discovered the enamel name boards lying on the ground still in...

I had thought that the brake etches could be tweaked to 9' w/b in exactly the way you propose although I haven't tried it yet.

Re: TLM Etch

Lindsay You are probably correct about the w-irons. Ian Terrell did some trial etches for these a couple of years ago when he was working with Allan Ferguson on Allan's underframe for the mineral bogies. Ian already had the artwork and added it to our sheet of etches. I sent Ian the prototype inform...

What we could really do with is a decent Jumbo. Which reminds me. Is there any progress on the promised new etched kit for the same?

Re: Proposed wagon transfers

Dave, Lindsay This is looking very good. I have no expertise to comment on the content other than so flog through a lot of photos. Wagon numbers are always going to be a problem. I am sure Ronnie Cockburn did some analysis on wagon numbers a few years ago which might tell us whether we need more 7s ...

TLM Diagram 3 Van Kits

I gave the members price for these as £11.50 in an earlier post. They should of course be £11.70. Not much difference but enough for some who paid the correct price to comment I suspect! Price for non-members is £13.

Re: TLM Etch - next phase?

Hi Lindsay Yes there is an inside bearing springing unit for the mineral bogies. Allan Ferguson produced this in association with Ian Terrell a couple of years ago. These units were included on the last etch and at Allan's request I sent them all to him There will be about 24 units in all. I am not ...

TLM Diagram 59 16-ton Mineral Wagon

Those of you who follow TLM closely will know that we have been working toward this wagon for some months. I am pleased to say that I now have all the component parts including the special brake gear etches and can accept your orders. The Diagram 59 wagon was the Caledonian's final mineral wagon dev...

To make life a little easier I mounted mine on some scraps of etch brass with a new support and then ...

Re: TLM Etch

Thanks for your interest Steve There are lots of things we could put on an etched sheet but there are all sorts of things to be considered to make this a reality. The first is that the etched sheets are approximately 12" square so we would need to fill the sheet with goodies. This would then require...

Help!

Has anybody received an unexpected gift of a small packet of CR05 Old carriage axleguards with their order? I can't find them and after an extensive search at home all I can think is that I inadvertently put them in somebody's order.

Re: TLM Diagram 11A Covered Carriage Truck

Droplights or No Droplights Peter and I had an exchange of emails some time ago concerning what was in the doors of the Diagram 11A CCT. We don't have many good photos of these but to me the evidence from what we do have suggests that the left hand door had a glazed droplight. The right hand door p...
