Some of you will know that we have the new pre-Drummond open and re-run of the cattle wagon in production. We will have limited quantities of both at the Glasgow Show as there hasn't been time to produce the full batches.
Both will be supplied as kits with white metal castings and etched brass brake lever and ratchet for the single brake version. The cattle wagon also has a pre-formed plastikard roof which needs trimming to size to fit your finished model. I have attached the new instruction sheet for the cattle wagon.
Prices are £15 for the cattle wagon and £13.50 for the open. With 10% discount for CRA members this makes them £13.50 and £11.25 respectively which is very close to cost price.
The RY Pickering private traders wagon is also in production as a re-run. I am planning to supply these as full kits with castings to complete but will offer a body only option for CRA members only. I will advise prices when I have sourced all the components. Although we plan to re-launch this wagon at the Perth Show I should have sufficient supplies to offer postal sales for CRA members before then.
I will wait until we have sufficient stocks of the open and cattle wagon to start postal sales. I will advise members on the Forum when I have these. Orders should be emailed to me at [email protected]. I won't be handling any money and payment for your order should be made to Sinclair Coghill, our Treasurer, preferably by Paypal or by direct bank transfer. Cheques can be sent to Sinclair but this method and direct transfer involves us in more work and takes longer to clear. I will post further details when sales by post can start.

Re: TLM 2020
I have been waiting for somebody to tell me that £13.50 for the open doesn't equate to £11.25 with 10% discount. The £11.25 is correct but the price to non-members should have been £12.50.

Jim,
According to the wagon book, plate 3.26 on p60 they were 12". This Ken Werret drawing from an old Railway Modeller also shows 12" high letters, albeit this is a 2 plank version.

My previous post has references for all the photos. For a start, please walk slowly to your book shelf, pick up the wagon book and turn to p.145 and read the caption.

PS in the Werrett drawing above, the size of the lettering is correct, but they are far too thin. This is not uncommon with Werrett's drawings.

Re: TLM 2020
Thank you.
I missed the pic on p.145.
Meanwhile, does anyone have suggestions about applying “C R” to the TLM cattle vans? Microsol and Transfix do not seem to soften the letters sufficiently over the diagonals. I’ve had the vans built for c. 3 years and only just got around to trying to apply transfers!

Re: TLM 2020
I've made stencils in brass for the C and the R, and use a Rotring pen and white acrylic to draw the outline and then block in the rest. It's got an added advantage that you can 'fade' the letters, which is not easy to do with transfers! OK it takes quite a bit of filing to get the stencil right, but I would have thought that maybe stencils could be made in styrene with a Silhouette cutter. Might need suitable lamination to make them rigid enough.

Thank you Alan.
I had idly thought about making a stencil but in clear plastic (acrylic) sheet, to aid alignment, but wondered if there was an easier way.
On reflection, the picture shows the CR does not “straddle” the diagonal brace - a case of when in doubt, read the instructions!

Re: TLM 2020
Fading lettering has been an issue for me. So far, painting over them with a thin wash of the base colour (red oxide for the wagons) works OK but isn't as good as I would like.
