Good evening, hope this finds all well in the run up to Christmas.

I have been helping a friend identify some models he has acquired as a 'job lot' but this one has me stumped. I very much doubt it is anything Caley but does anyone have any ideas?

Looks to me very like the LNWR Inspection Saloon which ran for a while with Cornwall. Main difference I can see is that in real life the roof stopped short of the veranda at one end. Even then, maybe it wasn't always cut back like that?

Here's a sketch made for a 4mm model - not by me.

Thanks for the steer. That does seem very plausible. Other LNWR engineers' saloons (not of this exact type) were modified by replacing the coal-bunker with a second veranda c1921 but I can find no information of this happening to this coach. It is possible it was so modified but it is believed that it was withdrawn in the early 1920s and may not have made the LMS let alone received LMS livery. So possibly a bit of a 'what if ?'
