Unidentified Angus location

Post by Niall Ferguson »

This is a photo of the June 1960 Scottish Railtour at an unidentified location which is listed as possibly on the Carmyllie Branch. The overbridge effectively rules out that possibility, but more importantly, so does the fact that Glen Douglas wasn't used on the day (16th June) that they did the Carmyllie Branch. Over the six days of the tour they went practically everywhere (but not always with Glen Douglas in charge), so any ideas where this is?

That looks very much like Gateside on the Fife & Kinross Railway.

Definitely a possibility but the only view I have in my collection is looking down the hill from the road that crosses the overbridge
