Something sparked a memory of growing up in Motherwell in the 50s. There was a rather unsalubrious collection of houses clustered round the engine shed known as the Caley Raws. Whether these housed the families of company servants or were for overnight lodgings I am not sure. Other locations must have had something similar. Were they of a standard pattern? Does anyone have any photos?
