That is good news , David. In that case, I better start up another thread to (hopefully) encourage purchase and build by others.

Now that I have ordered some tube for the boiler I suppose I had better crack on with the one I started building a few years ago, mine will most likely have a fixed height bogie with compensated driving wheels.

The 171 etches will be collected from the post office latter today, etches in 4mm and 7mm scale will be supplied with a brass boiler tube and the 7mm etches with a chassis.

Can those interested in a set of etches please drop me a message off the forum, thanks.

Resurrecting a Class 171 Etch?

Post by David Elvy »

By way of a wee update on 4mm scale things, which I trust will please the 4mm modellers.

I have met with Jim Smellie today and we have come to an agreement for me to borrow some of his Caley Coaches casting masters to make a new set of castings specifically for the 171 class, and Lindsay is going to help (thank you Lindsay) with some of the parts he has made for his own building project. This means we’ll have a complete set of castings available for those interested in this model by the summer.

David I've sent you some emails. I've tried contacting you by pm on this site but Every time I write and try to send a message it just logs me out and I loose the message. Trust me the fun wears of after the 5th or 6th time in a row.
