Are these available yet? I can't see them on the LMS website. I thought they were to be launched at the Perth show.

The various types can be viewed on the LMS website - lanarkshiremodels.com
The reason for my question was that I can't find any sign of Caley coupling rods on Dave's website!

I bought two sets at Perth on Saturday - a Jumbo and a 439 class, and the etch quality is excellent. A nice touch is that for the six-coupled set, a pair of rivets (and a spare!) is included.

Sorry Alan, I was sure they were viewable on the LMS website.
Why not send Dave (Franks) an email for details

I've been in touch with Dave today by email. Seems he is holding off putting them onto his website because he needs to restock some of the items. I guess that probably means he sold out the Jumbo and 439 Class...!
I've got my 498 Class rods ordered though as he was willing to let me order one of his existing range items and tell him in advance that I wanted these instead, as that lets him put it through his mail order system. I don't expect it will take long to restock, but I'm sure he will be able to accommodate anyone else in the same way for those which he still has stock of.

I was able to acquire several rods for Jumbos on Sunday from Dave at his stall in Perth. A nice chat too...……

Hi all,

I wasn't at the Perth show so missed out on getting rods which I'm after for a certain 171 as well as several other classes.

I'm not sure if this will work for non-P4 Forum members, but if it does you can view the rods here :

Have now made up my coupling rods for the 498 Class. Mr Franks has made an excellent job - highly recommended! Detailed, easy to follow instructions too: a joy!

I have a lapse from the forum for most of the year and I come back to find etched rods, 3D printed loco bodies and all sorts going on!

What a nice surprise, even though I definitely need to be less of a stranger in future! :)

I received 8 sets of rods in the post from Dave Franks at the weekend. I had delayed my order until all rods were back in stock and the 6 coupled universal etch was available. All rods are in stock and can be ordered via his website (http://www.lanarkshiremodels.com/index.html) or direct at shows. A wide range of CR engine classes are catered for via rods specific to these classes. The universal etches can be used for any of the classes (Drummond & onwards) not catered for specifically, or if rods are to be made up for a chassis that is already assembled (the 6 coupled universal rods could well be the etch to use if the 812 from Rails of Sheffield is to be rewheeled to EM or P4 (and if the rods with it can't be reused) as the model chassis might not be supplied to the exact same spacing as the 812 rods available from Dave Franks).

For just under a fiver a set there's no point in trying to manufacture one's own rods, and no point in using the inferior and inaccurate rods that come with most of the 4mm kits currently available.

That's one hole in the market well and truly plugged. Now, how are we doing with progress on decals for goods stock?

Lindsay
You will recall that Mike W agreed to compile a suitable range of numbers etc.
I understand from Jim S that this is well advanced so hopefully ......
